The first ever Social Gaming Summit to be held in Asia welcomed speakers and delegates from some of the top social gaming companies in Asia who came together to discuss the connection between real world gambling and the rise of internet games. 

Participants appreciated the focus on business models and the potential for cross selling between the gaming and gambling market, with speakers pointing out that 20% of social gamers are also social gamblers but of that 20%, only 2% of those social gamblers are converted to premium gambling.

Monetisation strategies as well as the possibility of virtual currencies, such as Bitcoin, being used to transfer money seamlessly across borders were also discussed.
Given that, although Facebook has only 6.48% penetration in Asia, but that the region recently surpassed North America in total active users, it is clear that Asia is the next frontier in the social gaming and gambling market and companies must focus their attention here if they want to see growth.
